Sony DVP DVP-FX950 Review
The Sony DVP-FX950 has a high resolution 9 inch widescreen display and 7.5 hours of battery life. It has nicely placed touch keys, and 180 degree flip and swivel screen for flexible viewing.
As well as movies, the DVP-FX950 supports DC and MP3 music playback, and can display personal photo albums. There are two built in headphone jacks, so two people can listen to music or a movie without disturbing others.
There is a car adapter included with the device, so you can keep it charged up for long car journeys. If using the device portably, the battery life is 7.5 hours, so you will be able to watch 2 or 3 full movies from one charge. 12-but/108MHz Video DAC technology outputs enhanced picutre quality for DVDs with digital to analog conversion (DAC). DAC technology works by minimizing digital artifacts & fine picture gradation which improves the image and optimizes it for the small screen.
The touch keys are placed just under the screen, and are good if you need to pause, rewind or fast forward swiftly. Alternatively, there is a remote control so that you can do this via the dual sensors.

Verdict:
The Sony DVP FX-950 is well designed and has many good points. The best of these is the picture quality, which is almost perfectly smooth. Compared to other top-rated portable DVD players, it is a lot less grainy and has better color quality.
Charging time is as advertised, lasting 7.5 hours with brightness turned down, and lasting about 5 and a half hours with brightness at the highest. Charging time for the DVP-FX950 is 6 hours. It has a lot of volume, and the sound quality is very good provided you have a decent set of headphones.
The screen can swivel 180 degrees, and you can connect the device to a television. In addition, you can play picture CDs, music CDs, and MP3s. If you stop the device while playing or there is a power failure, you can plug it back it and resume from where you left off.
The touch keys are very convenient, although they are not illuminated, so can be quite difficult to see when the lighting is dim.
This player is ideal for those who are mostly after excellent picture quality.
Overall Rating: 4.5 stars
Sony DVP-FX950 Buyer Quotes
“The screen on this thing is awesome. It’s bright, smooth, nice contrast, great viewing angle, easy for several to people to view from different angles. The battery life is also quite good, even with the brightness turned up and using the built-in speakers. The speakers sound pretty good considering their size. The drive itself is fairly quiet. “
“Very nice dvd player. The picture and sound quality are very good. This portable dvd player was just in time and what we needed for a 5 hour plane trip with our 3yr old son. I saw a couple other parents with the same product while on our trip and would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a good, but affordable player.”
“I bought this DVD player to use when I travel. The quality is great — I agree with all of the reviews. The only issue I have with this model is that the bottons are “touch” and the options button is on the right side, next to the button to scroll down — so I often hit the options button my accident when using the scroll down button. But other than that, I love it”
